Washington Ladies Riding Club Association

The Washington Ladies Riding Club Association (WLRCA) was established in
1979.  The organization serves as a means for all member teams to
participate in competitive events, as well as, provide drill and judges'
clinics to help teams become more proficient with drill.  Charter member
teams were:  Ellensburg Silver Spurs, Yakima Kuntry Kwik Steppers,
Tacoma Lariettes and the Galloping Gossips.
The 2002 contact person for the WLRCA is Diane Thomas, Secretary:
    Telephone (360) 894-4036, email: rockinrt@ywave.com.

Our handbook has been an ongoing process since 1987.  The 2000 updated version of the WLRCA handbook is available.  Contact Diane Thomas at the above phone or email address for information and cost.

The Washington Ladies Riding Club Association annual State meet was held
July 19, 20 and 21, 2002 at the Tacoma Unit, Spanaway, Washington. A total
of twelve teams participated.  See the results at the end of this message..

The Tacoma Lariettes did their usual wonderful job of taking care of us,
along with entertaining the group with their black light drill. Thank you
Judy Harris for your organization. We enjoyed having the Tacoma Lariettes
participate this year.

Our judges, Sherry Hunter, Cynthia Willard, and Gail Williams, were very
professional and wonder of wonders – not one scoring tie.  Thanks for a job well done!

Another big thank you to the Ridge Riders for the surprise box left in
each barn. You were a tremendous help, and we hope you had a good time.
Congratulations on being awarded the Sportsmanship Trophy for 2002. Well deserved!

Once again Ric Gearhart, our Event Coordinator, did his great job with the
arenas, music and timing of events. Am not sure how we ever managed without his help.

Congratulations to CLASS ACTION for the Overall High Point, Short Program
and Parade Championships; R C RIDERS for the Free Style, Compulsory and
Team of Four Championships; and Dan Myers for winning the Drill Advisor Award with his Impromptu Team.

Kudos to Limited Edition for having the best stall decorations.  I do notremember one time I was around your group that we did not share a laugh. You were certainly having a good time.

And High Valley Riders, what a weekend you had! You all rode very well and
received the “Golden Shovel” Award (Herdsmanship) as well. You were all very busy.

We really appreciate the Snohomish High School Marine Corp ROTC MountedColor Guard ladies, Second Lieutenant Adrienne Schwarzmiller, CorporalTamara Hill and Corporal Maria DeMartino, for presenting the colors onFriday during our Grand Entry. Thanks for participating.
